Keep Calm and Don’t Panic
Google, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo and many more all steal your data every day. Furthermore Windows now has ads and Apple has disabled its Advanced Data Protection and Google uses their vast ocean of services to collect everything about you.
This may seem bad and it is but the good news is that we can fix this, privacy is not dead. People will say that it is and then go on to use a dumb phone because it is allegedly more private. My point is that dumb phones are not encrypted and privacy is not dead. To get private a smartphone without SIM-card or a data only card without a name attached to itis the best option. If you do have to panic then use the button below.
Hardware
Your hardware can sometimes decide if you are able to become more private. This is especially true network hardware and smart devices. Routers are often ridden with vulnerabilities and security holes. We must buy good hardware.
Software
The applications you choose have a big impact on your privacy. If you use the right apps and don't use personal information then you will mostly be fine. You should use popular but privacy respecting apps like Signal, SimpleX Chat, Tutamail and others.
Systems
Windows and MacOS are bad for privacy, lets get that out of the way. With that said, Linux is where the money is when you want privacy. We use and recommend Tails, but also Fedora, Mint and others, you can see our guides on this that you can check.
