Little Snitch (Requires Purchase)

Little Snitch is a software firewall that will block both IP and DNS. It is a paid program, it is not very expensive but it is paid. I think you should consider paying as this is one of the most important options. Alternatively there is Lulu but I can’t talk about it since I haven’t tried it.

Its purpose is to block unauthorized incoming and outgoing connections to your system. This means we can block Apple’s servers. You can allow and deny outgoing connections from applications or the operating system. Download Little Snitch.

Installation:

          • Open Finder and navigate to the downloaded Little Snitch installation file.
          • Double-click on it and drag the Little Snitch icon into the Applications folder.
          • Close the Little Snitch window.
          • Navigate to the Applications folder with Finder.
          • Double-click the Little Snitch application and confirm “Open”.
          • Accept the license agreement and click “Install”.
          • Click on the “Open System Settings” when prompted.
          • Click on the “Allow” when prompted within System Settings.
          • Enter the password to the system and click “OK”.
          • Click on the “Allow” for network content access.
          • Close any notification windows.
          • Click on the “Start Tour”, then “Next” six times.
          • Click on the “Continue” then select “Alert Mode”, and click on “Next”.
          • Disable both the “macOS Services” and the “iCloud Services” and click on “Next”.
          • Click on the “Close” and then click the “Demo Mode” on the popup. This will put you into Little Snitch demo mode for a few hours only

You should now be running Little Snitch in demo mode, you will now need to purchase a license if you don’t want to explorer Lulu.

Now if you want to start blocking just open all Apple applications and then make sure to press deny to all Apple processes and any other processes that might be unwanted.
